I'm not expressing a view one way or another on the validity of those proposals: just observing that they're not consistent with the popular "But Our Norms!" ethos, which again indicates that it was never really about "norms" per se, but finding a convenient angle to attack Trump

Sacred norms are whatever I like or gets me what I want. Other norms (normatives) are all bad.

The people who whine about norms aren't the ones who want to abolish the EC or stuff the court. Two entirely different camps. They've refused to touch the subject of EC until Warren shoved it into the spotlight.

They have only one goal - the accumulation of power. They will necessarily reject the Constitution to accomplish that goal.

Yeah, agreed. I think this is an odd response to Trump's norm-breaking. I do like the idea of trying to think of ways to restructure the SC in order to depoliticize it permanently. However, packing it with liberal judges just to get back at the GOP is insanity. It wouldn't end.

I think it would, and it would do it quite badly.

Why do none of these people push abolition of the electoral college outside of their presidential campaigns?

The norm is capitalist exploitation, rationalized by racism and obtuse egotism, and abetted by imperial warfare.

That was generally liberals talking about norms so they didn't have to talk about actual policies. The left mocked the whole concept of norms.
