The Right will never admit that their exaggerated, overblown reaction to "radical Islamic terror" has anything in common with The Left's exaggerated, overblown reaction to "white nationalist terror." And visa versa. But threat inflation is a thoroughly bipartisan enterprise

Every time I tweet something to this effect, there's a roughly 50/50 influx of Right and Left angrily denying the assertion. Doesn't mean "both sides" are the same, or that their impulses are morally equivalent. But does reflect the stubborn refusal to admit any commonality.

Major European cities can no longer have Christmas markets without them being protected with concrete bollards, but please, do tell me more about this exaggerated, overblown reaction.

Talk about #FakeNews. When are you and I going to see the smash Broadway hit “The Book of Islam”, Michael? Never. Why? Ask an author in hiding. How quickly Lefties forget cartoonists, public conveyance users, Xmas party and Jewish museum goers, Bastille Day observers...

And the "Left" never links its condemnation of Islamophobia to its own Middle East regime change wars that have murdered 100s of 1000s of innocent Muslims in Libya, Syria, etc.

Hypocracy and double standards are inherent to this bipartisan model and those who blindly subscribe to it.

At the moment of this writing this post has 36 comments and 10 of them express fascist ideology. This doesn't include the people merely arguing that Islamic terror is worse

Unless you consider Govt initiated wars like Iraq, Afhanistan, Iran as 'White nationalist terror' , they are just not even in the same scale.

I dunno if these reactions are that overblown, when someone goes out and murders a bunch of people it's not like traffic deaths.. Otoh for the right it's a good way of complaining about Islam without saying what really bothers you, a bunch of foreigners. Which I agree with..

I do believe there is a drive to emotionalize politics and current events. It's meant to divide rather than to encourage dialogue, the precursor to finding solutions to problems. If you are busy being fearful and angry w/those that disagree with you, you have no time to evolve.

Smartest thing ever, was for media and government to convince Americans that arguing with each other is somehow better for America, than focusing on and calling our the shared hypocrisy of both parties

Hey man I do agree with you to a point. This is all mostly political for political gain. But I didn’t watch White Supremaciest fly planes into the towers and kill over 3000 innocent Americans. So there is that to take into account. It’s amazing how soon people forget don’t care.
