However, when mass casualty events are committed by people who claim inspiration by white nationalism, liberal/left apprehension about government regulation (and civil liberties more generally) often seems to go out the window. And they get really mad when you point this out.

I agree that it's stupid to remove ISIS videos, but that's capitalism for you. These big tech companies are only concerned with profits, not with what's just or fair or even healthy for society.

I've never heard a single piece of legislation that restricts your speech when it comes to speaking out in favor of or against Islamic terrorism. But I will say that according to the FBI white nationalist terrorism is way more prevalent since 2001.

That's because they don't need to pass laws they just go and demand tech companies remove "ISIS videos," which they absolutely did - exactly the same way they're doing with white nationalism. No one is proposing new laws against racism/white nationalism either.
