Interesting post from a former Trump campaign worker who predicts he'll lose in 2020. Seems very plausible to me. Trump has done little to consolidate the normal advantages of presidential incumbency. If anything, he seems to have shed supporthttps://ryandetert.com/tweet-cave-repeat-equals-2020-defeat/ …

Trump’s unconventional communications style has always masked the reality that his presidency has been extremely conventional on a policy level (with a few limited but notable exceptions)

If the economy tanks (there are already some leading indicators of this) it’s very possible that Trump will not even run. I’d maybe put that at 30% probability right now

Not sure if you know but pretty much every president in recent history has shed support. He's likely going to lose but will good chance it will come down to a few thousand votes in a state or 2.

Article was written before he used his veto power. Secondly, I do not know a single supporter in this area who is unhappy with him. Third, despite all of the media attacks, his popularity remains fairly high. I think he will be reelected.

But the people are now changing the rules of the game.. people have woke up to their impoverished enslavement of neocon corporate & banking cartels choosing who’s going to invade countries on their behalf.. the people are the power now..

This line is no longer true: “Not once has he used the most powerful weapon in his arsenal: the presidential veto.” And no one cares about the debt. Otherwise, it’s all on target.

Instead of draining the swamp he put the swamp in his cabinet. Still in Syria, Afghanistan.. still stuck with ACA. If the market tanks he's done.

I read the article entirely. Many valid points. FAR too early to know what 2020 will deliver. If economic macro-indicators hold (or improve) it helps Trump. Also, if Dems fail to nominate a policy focused alternative (hint: Bernie/Tulsi), they may not succeed. Time will tell.

I don't think I agree. Whoever wins the 2020 primary will do so in a way that makes them utterly intolerable to Republicans (and assuming it's not Bernie, probably a lot of millenials too) and Trump will capitalize on that.

He's also forgetting that Trump *tried* to staff the WH with loyal people, and it didn't work out. Gorka couldn't get a clearance, Flynn got arrested, Bannon was eventually ousted and Sessions was forced into recusal and thus impotence. So who was Trump supposed to hire?

Trump didn't have support, he had the good fortune of running against Hillary Clinton, one of the most disliked candidates in history.

I love the way Trump negotiates. I can't wait for the presidential debates. If it weren't for Trump, Kim Jong Un wouldn't have gotten the attention he gets today.

Some good points but it all depends on who his opponent is and how they choose to attack. Trump is amazingly (dangerously) clever and witty and entertaining. He can destroy a well crafted strategy with a one-liner.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsIsnIhmOcU …

Trump won because he pulled in non ideological democrats. I’m from Philly & I knew more than a few people (of different races, religions) that actually voted for him, for various reasons. He needs to work on infrastructure, HC, lowering cost of college, immigration, blk outreach
