This college admissions bust is doubly amazing because the FBI actually invested major investigative resources over the course of several years to crack down on rampant corruption among business and media elites? What's going on???

As mentioned elsewhere; The Federal investigation into college-admissions corruption has been going on for a couple of years. Reuters did great multipart series on wide range of issues related to it.https://www.reuters.com/article/us-college-sat-fbi-idUSKCN112009 …

A few high up's in the agency probably had their kids passed over for admission and decided to look into it.

Not necessarily, there's a great possibility most, if not all, of the people involved in this will skate and simply pay hefty fines. Additionally, none of the students who benefited will be required to forfeit their degrees. This seems like the most likely scenario to me.

What’s going on is the FBI is trying to present a shiny object to take away their conduct in the Silent Coup.

I'm not sure I really get this. Was the FBI involved because there were public schools involved? Are there, like, rules that the private schools have to follow re: admissions if they accept fed $? What is the crime? Is it really just mail fraud? How can the public prove injury?

I see how the schools maybe have a case against the corrupt employees or how a rejected prospective against one of the public schools but I don't really see why the FBI is arresting people for these things rather than just alerting the appropriate parties to the activity...?

I understood there was a tax fraud angle to this scheme, as the parents were claiming the bribes/payoffs as charitable contributions for the tax write off.

Always remember the people who had to search for years to find corruption in America’s most elite Ivy League colleges was brought to us by the same people who had to search a year for hookers in New Orleans.https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2002/jul/5/20020705-033306-7053r/ …
