Social media and general Trump hysteria fueled a level of media herd mentality on the Russia collusion story that will be studied with shock and dismay in the future. Journalists will pledge to avoid ever making such mistakes again... until the next enormously humiliating mistake

This is way too optimistic. In the future, the Russian collusion will be taught as an established fact

Exactly. Rachael Maddow will be pictured and lauded for courageously investigating Trump-Russia collusion in History books that will still explain how Europeans "settled" and built America after Columbus discovered it and made it exist.

True enough. If we were collectively able to think clearly on these subjects @realDonaldTrump would never have received the nomination in the first place. Nor would @HillaryClinton.

You give the media way too much credit saying it was hysteria - they knew they could spin a good yarn and attract viewers rather than pissing off the establishment by focusing on the failures in our system that need reform

Michael. You ignore the media business motive of bosses & the social-climbing stenographical inclinations of Jschool grads. Mix in the Deep State oversight & the lack of applicable laws, and this will occur continuously.

Actually most corporate media types are NOT J-school grads. Us J-school grads either get stuck at the city level or are forced to leave due to low pay. We’re trained to be skeptical & corporate bosses would rather have their “reporters” simply push the status quo.

Yellow journalism is always going to be yellow, it's their whole business model and the only way these "journalists" can get paid or otherwise obtain the rewards they so crave. Business as usual is hardly shocking, dismaying as it is.

Hysteria and panics have been integral to the business model of mass media since inception. Makes elective wars easier too, as an added bonus to the deep state.
