Back in 1973, William Fulbright -- the legendary Arkansas Senator and namesake of the Fulbright Scholar Program -- went much farther than Omar ever has with regard to Israel https://www.jta.org/1973/04/17/archive/fulbright-israel-controls-senate …pic.twitter.com/ngnanoIQhO

Former GOP Senator and Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel also famously said: "The political reality is that ... the Jewish lobby intimidates a lot of people up here [on Capitol Hill]" which also went much further than Omar, because Omar has never referred specifically to Jews

Ron Paul saying Israel created Hamas on the floor in congress didn't have this much fanfare

Israel is not much different than South Korea or Japan as far as strategic value goes. The fact of the matter is the Palestinians have almost zero strategic value. In fact they present more of a head wind than an assist.

He was a known bigot; including and mostly against Blacks. He filibustered the bills in 1964 and in 1965. This is quite a low bar Michael. Oh and it was 1973. BTW he was @BillClinton’s mentor.

Fullbright was also a virulent racist. Opposed Brown, filibustered the Civil Rights Act, segregationist, etc. Maybe not the best guy to cite when trying to make the “no, really, I’m only anti-Zionist!” excuse.

I think he was pointing out that response has been different than to say Fullbright and Hagel. Why I wonder?

Considering Fullbrights record on for example segregation, is he the best historical example you can find?

You'd make more headway by not defending Omar. Otoh, if you're trying to stir the pot vs. trying to make a valid point, by all means, continue.
