AOC probably saw it as a wise career move, but they'll throw her under the bus much the same, regardless. These same critics are out to make her expendable and powerless too. Ilhan Omar will be the more respected household name by the end of her first term, outside their halls.
-
that is the problem with all politicians. They begin to view each action they take in this way...which is how they become power hungry and greedy. "AOC probably saw it as a wise career move"

Alll any democrat had to do to see exactly how it would play out, is look at how Jeremy Corbyn has been treated over here. We are now at the stage where a sitting MP has said anti capitalism is, by default, antisemitism, and the media nod along in approval.

Freudian clues & hint of real truth in that statement

@aoc did the predictable and politically "safe" thing by throwing her under the bus. The problem is once you give in even slightly to the bullying you fall into a trap of contradictions. -
Intelligent remark re. Giving in even slightly to bullies.

Dem leadership would be attacking Omar regardless but
@AOC trying to walk the line in the middle isn’t becoming at all. She should know better and be better. No question the makeup of her district is a factor, but racism and Islamophobia are wrong, and that’s what this all is. -
Honestly on Palestine AOC has been consistently mediocre, at best

Disappointed by AOC'S take on this. The bigot, racists. from MN are elated to join in. The fact Omar is spot on has moved the spotlight a bit and exposed the ugly underbottem of politics. for what it is.

Since people were going to launch disgusting, racist attacks against Omar anyways and had been doing so before February....seems kinda like a sun rises in the east prediction.
-
which is why it was still pointless of her to throw ilhan under the bus!

Partly, yes. I believe that the idea is not to take "strong steps" against anti-Semitism or whatever, but to attack Omar and "other" her for her identity and (mostly) heterodox leftism. So the stated charge is beside the point, making the thesis partly moot.

I lost respect for AOC when she back tracked after the push back she received after correctly calling israel an "occupation"!

Of course. AOC is getting a lot of attention of people and a lot of people like her and trust her. So they'll hear that on top of the other remarks all over the media and I'm sure some got Influenced by it
