The irony is that Omar is one of the few elected officials *accurately characterizing* the relationship between the US and Israel. She correctly notes that donors and activists with allegiance to that foreign state use financial power to influence policyhttps://twitter.com/IlhanMN/status/1102297465502474240 …

Israel is functionally a client state that could not carry out the policies it does without US backing. That's not the case with other US aid recipients. So maybe address her points on the merits, instead of being a sensitive snowflake and crying about how offended you are by her

History will not be kind to these politicians who sided with the current corrupt Israeli government.

History will not be kind to Americans, this has gone for generations and politicians that publicly opposed to this are a rarerity

Ron Paul almost used the same line of criticism against Israel. The conservative zionists are loving that it's a hijabi wearing woman of color with distasteful politics that is now the lone critic of Israeli influence in congress.

99% Congress focuses on many other topics and on many other countries too. There R dozens of other topics domestic and foreign thst generate way more influence - donations and lobbying - than Israel. BTW all “military aid” to Israel is spent in the US. cc

If the way the US processes aid to Israel is such a great financial benefit, why doesn’t the US do the same for other countries? Saudi Arabia actually buys a ton from the US, but I guess it’s somehow not profitable because they use their own money???

Egypt got $1.2 billion in military aid approved in the fall of 2018. Why is Ilhan not focused on that much military aid being lavished on a Muslim country? Would that be because of her dual loyalties?

Just like with Saudi Arabis, all that money goes to Israel with the express purpose of being spent on American made military equipment. It's a subsidy for the military-industrial complex, and Israel is merely the vehicle.
-
Actually I think I read that Israel is the only 'aid' recipient that can spend it on its own hardware, imagine my surprise. So the 'aid' finances the Israeli MIC instead of ours.

Gotta admit, religion aside, I'd rather have that ally in the region than not. Until AOC invents cold fusion, it's worth a few more bucks than, say, Taiwan. I don't think that's a particularly "neo-con" opinion.
