Using the plight of grieving parents to undermine diplomatic relations is gross. What happened to Otto is tragic, but there's strong reason to believe that he attempted suicide while in custody, and very little reason to believe he was physically torturedhttps://twitter.com/NBCNews/status/1101495167494836231 …

If you have never heard this before, and have just heard the most alarmist propagandistic version of what occurred, you're not alone. Here you go:https://www.gq.com/story/otto-warmbier-north-korea-american-hostage-true-story …

Let's say all of that was true, he was tortured and so forth. The question is, is one man's life worth more than an end to a decades-long war? Do the Koreans now refuse to ever negotiate? Both sides lost far more that one person to that conflict.

Again, even if he wasn't tortured, he was stuck in a North Korean prison for over a year for stealing a poster. I'm not removing blame from him, but you can't act like it was all his fault. You can't just go "NK prisons are tough" and just brush over his death.

He didn’t get a fair trial may well have been innocent. But the charge against him was not simply stealing a poster. They said he went into a restricted area, clearly marked off-limits, to do it.
