Just listened to, and recorded, an amazingly fanatical speech from Bari Weiss in which she managed to accuse Tulsi Gabbard of abetting worldwide anti-semitism Will be making a podcast out of this (with a special guest) once I reach my initial Patreon goalhttps://www.patreon.com/mtracey

Bari roused a roaring condemnation of Omar from the well-to-do Upper East Side crowd she was addressing. She also suggested Omar was an ally of David Duke. Really. I’m not making this up

The speech was ostensibly on “how to fight anti-semitism,” which Bari argues is now a surging worldwide threat. She proudly and stridently declared that anti-Zionism is no different from anti-semitism and should be treated as an existential danger by all Jews

Maybe what’s most amazing is that Bari weaved all this into her standard critique of “identity politics,” despite emotionally and passionately proclaiming how centrally foundational her Jewish identity was to her political outlook. Like, she was literally on the verge of tears

She could not have been a more forceful proponent of the essential, eternal necessity of Jewish identity politics. If that’s your thing, fine. But then don’t turn around and pretend to be this big critic of everyone else’s “identity politics.” It’s totally incoherent

I have to hand it to Bari: she attracted a very large crowd. A packed house. So there’s definitely an audience for this strident yet incoherent, fanatical alarmism. The speech was so revealing in so many ways. Look forward to presenting it soon in podcast/video form!

But until there are more people who notice this incoherence, it will continue because it is so effective. Took me an eternity to notice too. That, and a reading of Kevin Macdonald.

It will take a long time to counter Israel's influence over our government. Same for other countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Russia, etc.

She's conflated her liberalism with her Jewish identity thereby making it easier to lay the charge of anti-Semitism if you disagree on the former.

Weiss, along with @benshapiro, are attempting to fuse performative histrionics and Jewish exceptionalism to promote the view that “it’s not identity politics when Jews do it”.

Identity politics is for everyone but White folks, according to Weiss and her co-religionists. Feature, not bug.
