But isn't the suffering of the Venezuelan people part of the equation? We can say their economy is garbage and also say we don't want the help.

I think people do want to help, but they're believing propaganda that convinces them the way to help is to support a coup. Helping would be removing the sanctions and sending actual aid through the Red Cross.

Agree on the false binary, but isn’t it a reasonable position to criticize the treatment of protesters?

When the US is actively engineering a coup, making that one's focus is suspect.

If the cia can get away with toppling Maduro in this way so that they can grab Venezuelan
#OILandGAS.... I predict they will do the same thing against AMLO & Mexico. Don't dare BDS israel, but sanction anyone that won't let you grab their resources. (kissingerism)Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

The best rhetoric would be to condemn the US military intervention tactics while suggesting authentic humanitarian aid.

Yes, that is correct. Bernie (actually his staff) could either have not tweeted about it or clarified that they did not believe it was business of USA to interfere in affairs of another sovereign country

As long as nobody gets shot, it wouldn’t be any worse then the “regime change” that the national security state abetted by DNC ‘n CNN & MSNBC have tried pulling in Washington DC the past 26 months.

Hey Mike. The issue is Venezuela is a petrostate in a bust cycle. The issue is who gets the spoils. You know the answer to this because its in the western hemisphere.https://www.cfr.org/backgrounder/venezuela-crisis …

It was "busted" by the U.S. oil corps. But no more. Now the "spoils" remain with its people.

It would be nice if the argument wasn't prefaced with "well maduro is a bad guy but--" Character assassination is one of the first tactic used to garner complicity...

One of the choices is between condemnation and acceptance. Another is between "Oppose food/water/medicine to oppose empire or "Support food/medicine even if you dont want to see invasion". Etc.

Right, and adding that the sanctions have exacerbated
#Venezuela's problems, lifting them is the correct action to begin sincere negotiations as to what diplomatic and financial role the US and the global community could play to HELP stabilize VN.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
