Having watched the full Feinstein video: it's absolutely valid to object to her on substantive grounds, but she actually engaged those kids like adults she had a serious political disagreement with, rather than condescending and head-patting them. Which is, in a way, respectful

how about have a better demeanor and attitude towards the children of people who voted for her? She dismissed them by saying "You didn't vote for me", well, how do you know they're parents didnt. Even if they DIDN'T, they're her CONSTITUENTS WHO ARE AFFECTED. Stop trying to look

False dichotomy. It is possible to disagree respectfully. Anyone who worships the comity of the Senate as much as Feinstein is perfectly capable of doing it.

I would have preferred she be honest and told them she doesn't listen to her constituents and only enacts legislation her rich donors and corps tell her to enact.

She should have said "political reality, at least as me and colleagues see it, means that there will be no meaningful Green New Deal, and, likely, no deal at all. We are all bought and paid by the people responsible for the most pollution"

More important to know if the impact was: did the kids feel respected / engaged with, as adults, or condescended?

The kids would’ve preferred that she listen to them. What was in the video was what they talked about right after they met with Feinstein. They said she was rude. The boy said “she doesn’t care about us”pic.twitter.com/QJ8WOQwRHa – at 1 Post

That’s their parents talking.

Yes, they are part of a simple movement to try and deal with climate change. She should have listened politely and a least said that she would read their letter and maybe do what they say. Then she can maybe say I want to try this and this. Don't ruin the kids first big thing.

"fair-minded" with your soft logic. That's not the way to show intelligence-TRUTH is.

You mean she engaged the parents if the kids, you know, the ones who used them and sent them to her for a political effect

I'd prefer she treat them like kids who are worried about their future. A simple understanding of their concerns and acknowledgment of the emergency. It's not hard.
