Also note how the "anti-globalist" right, who constantly declare how much they hate neocons, are willing to follow the lead of Elliott Abrams, one of the most consummate neocons who ever lived. It's almost like their claimed anti-interventionist principle was never sincere.

Whatever you think about Maduro, it would be ridiculous to argue that his humanitarian offenses have been worse than, say, Saddam Hussein. Yet all these right-wing "anti-globalist" guys, including Trump, routinely affirm how unjustified the Iraq War was. They're incoherent.

No one's saying a full ground invasion of Venezuela is likely, but that's not the point. The point is the logic behind using US force to depose a foreign leader. Take Libya: no full ground invasion there either. Likewise, US military is now massing at the Venezuela border.

How is it "much harder" in specific circumstances?
-
Because specific circumstances, usually involving humanitarian suffering, can be cited as a reason to override one's anti-intervention principles. Happened in Syria, Libya, Iraq, etc. Always happens.

I'm opposed to US intervention in Venezuela but fully support the efforts of the people to secure a better future for their country.
-
if the vast majority of people opposed Maduro then more power to em, unfortunately for imperialist the opposite is true, which is why people calling for intervention are absolutely insane

that is why interventions are assayed as "mistakes" and not "war crimes."

You can be against intervention all day long but when you see oil reserves of that size, and just on the US doorstep, well you can't just turn away.
-
TBH those oil reserves aren't that great. They're poor grade, and difficult to extract.

They begin by framing with an admission that x leader is “bad”, then how we propose to stop the badness. My neighbor is bad because he has friends that block my drive when they visit. I don’t arm his kids with bats so they can beat him until he decides to move though.

They're all "anti-globalists" who always think we should intervene in the rest of the globe's business. And this particular case is always the exception.

I would say that only a handful on the right, at least those elected, even pay lip service to being against regime change
