as a former bernie natl surrogate & still supporter: I never bought that meme. I think two things are true: he had real strengths over Clinton BUT he never faced a $2 billion general election anti Bernie campaign. It's impossible to know how that would've played out

Of course it’s impossible to ever really know, because it’s a hypothetical scenario. But my reporting, analysis, etc. has always given me high confidence in the veracity of the meme

Anecdotally, every Trump voter I know claims they would have voted for Bernie had he been the Democratic nominee.
-
I heard a lot of the same , he should have been the democratic candidate. Election would not have turned out as it did

He. Didn't. Get. Nearly. Enough. Votes. He was done on Super Tuesday in March but dragged out his campaign for another three months.

We will never live beyond this 2016 time warp.

Bernie benefited in 2016 by being, for much of the race, the only option to Hillary in the Dem primary. Things will be different in 2020 because there 10 times more candidates and Hillary is not one of them. Bernie will not win a single primary or caucus in 2020.

A single primary, plsss! You don’t even believe that! He raised $1M in the first three hours after announcing

My husband - a lifelong Repub (More of an Independent. He just hasn’t figured that out yet
) refused to vote for either candidate in the 2016 election. He said, however, that he would have voted for Sanders against Trump.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

So formidable that he folded like a cheap suit in the face of a corrupt system that wouldn't even allow him a seat at the kid's table? That anyone, after that, can take him seriously as a contender for anything other than maintaining the status quo baffles me.
-
He never went hard after Clinton. He was never serious. Is he serious now or does he want that small donor money and living high off the hog again? Maybe another private jet trip to visit the Pope again?

I don't think the danger of the radical left was as apparent in 2015-2016. Bernie, touting himself in the socialist ideology, will receive greater pushback now than before from moderates.
-
Did Bernie ever get nailed down to any policy positions in 2016? Medicare For All requires outlawing private insurance and Kamala Harris couldn't stick with it for 24 hours.

You are right. Everyone knows Donald Trump got elected based on his squeaky clean reputation.
