Check out how the leader of the Intellectual Dork Web responds to my claim that they have an Israel-sized blindspot in their critique of "outrage culture." Rather than address it, he launches a meandering digression about whether I have proper credentialshttps://twitter.com/EricRWeinstein/status/1096976589554802688 …

Re-upping this thread, in case you were doing something better with your Saturday night and missed it (which is hopefully 99% of you). Make sure to find all the replies, I'm not sure everything threaded properly. One of the most bizarrely tedious Twitter exchanges I've ever had.

Twitter commenters have informed me I’m just jealous of the IDW and really want to be invited to one of their exclusive restaurant outings. Fine, I admit it. My dream is to share an appetizer with Ben Shapiro

I think you're being a bit too overconfident about the coherence of the "IDW" but there's definitely a big problem with people thinking speech codes are just an ess jay doubleyoo thing.
-
I don't particularly assume coherence of the IDW. I'm just taking what is purportedly their signature issue, ostensible aversion to modern outrage culture, and highlighting an example where their claimed principles on that subject go completely out the window.

I can see why this would exhaust you. It's an intellectual challenge. Weinstein is not mean-spirited. That tone is what you bring with you. Civil engagement is part of the IDW recipe. By all means, engage him. But be prepared to lose the false bravado and likely, weak positions.
-
In this case its Eric and the IDW that has a weak position. They have all either not responded or evaded the subject by digressing. Eric is very guilty of this here and its sad. Its what, day 6 and still he evades

I'm a huge fan of your work. Have marveled at how you've never let twitter & other contagions make you toxic. But this week the Ilhan criticism triggered you like I didnt think was possible; seemed like you were trembling with anger. Also: pls leave the word "exhausting" to SJWs.

You're being more than a bit reactionary, and making assumptions about intent you can't possibly know. Given your justifiable criticism for others doing the same, this is disappointing, to say the least

You earned a follow. I hope you and Eric can have a real face to face, long form conversation on a podcast. Twitter drains empathy from people and makes the conversation cheaper. I am a fan of
@EricRWeinstein and now a fan of you. I hope something can come of this.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
