Always liked the retweets I saw and just recently followed, I get the just from your post, but would you mind laying out your exact stance for a new follower and perhaps @EricRWeinstein in the process? Regards

Despite his bizarre behavior tonight, I'm still willing to have a substantive discussion with Eric, perhaps on a different medium.

I want to know who you are. I’m happy enough to discuss
@IlhanMN@AIPAC, BDS, anti-semitism. I make a well known point of trying not to talk to activists posing as journalists, except about this one topic of separating activism from journalism.18 replies 2 retweets 60 likes -

Also happy to discuss this fixation of yours, which strikes me as doubly bizarre. I make my views known, strive for factuality and transparency, and also practice journalism, having been published in numerous major outlets. I have never feigned "objectivity." That's who I am.

Well, first of all I respect you saying that. Really. No BS. As I said on
@benshapiro’s show, I prefer someone like Hunter S Thompson who admits to biases as part of the story or someone who tries for objectivity even if it’s impossible over any activist posing as a journalist.10 replies 2 retweets 49 likes -

I’ll take your word for it. Wanna try again? Take off your journalist hat & I’ll consider it. How are you not objective? Here’s how I am influenced. I come from a far left family pushing Jews to aspire to nearly impossible standards. I’m influenced by pogroms & the holocaust.

Journalism is integral to my worldview, insofar as my worldview is predicated on empiricism and skepticism. So there's no way for me to "take off the hat." But it doesn't mean I strive for "objectivity." Fair-mindedness and impartiality? Yes. Objectivity, no. There's a difference

I’d be interested to hear it. I don’t know what these words mean to you.

Objectivity in the journalistic sense tends to connote a false ideology whereby adherents pretend to have no political preferences. Impartiality mandates adopting consistent analytical standards. Which is why I find the discourse around Israel so maddening, especially re: the IDW

Okay. I’m a progressive Jew who has lived in Israel from a family touched by pogroms & the holocaust. I have some Palestinian sympathies. I‘m also exhausted by Palestinian gamesmanship. I‘m HIGHLY suspicious of BDS unless folks call for MANY boycotts *across* the region. Then no.

I'm frankly getting exhausted by this conversation, though I appreciate your commitment to it. If I have a "bias," it's that I'm exasperated at how inconsistently standards are applied to discussions involving Israel, with the IDW's conduct this past week being a prime example.

Well, using words like “dork” and not being kind or impartial towards me and trying to humiliate me didn’t speed up anything. You might consider an apology. I didn’t come at you. I don’t even know who you are. I just responded. Think it over? Thanks.

If it will hasten the conclusion of this exhausting conversation, I apologize. I do genuinely strive to be non-pejorative on social media, but the Israel topic can be genuinely infuriating. At least for me. Like I said, happy to continue in some other forum at some later date.
