Don't worry everybody, the highest reaches of the federal law enforcement apparatus would only ever seek to overthrow a president for totally benevolent, altruistic reasons. You can trust them

Lol. As long as we are dissing the FBI...can we shed a little light on the CIA as well...

The FBI can’t overthrow the president. And Rosenstein was not suggesting they could. The 25th amend is in the constitution. They were theorizing whether or not Trump’s team would invoke it. Even if they “took action” it would be trump’s own people who would have to do so.

But the FBI can attempt a “velvet coup” through leaks and sabotage to attempt to undermine the president to the point they can justify impeachment. It’s an old tactic but hasn’t been on this scale in the US before. They did this to JFK too, but it wasn’t as sophisticated.

the media did not even think about questioning Obama. Or anyone in admin. Therefore they ran wild.....needed HRC to win to protect their crimes.....she loses......they have to stop Trump. Have to. Issue for them is POTUS knew. That is what 2019 is about. Times up.

I think you are right Geoff. I've been trying to understand the desperation of the Dems over the 2016 election. It felt like much more was lost than a routine transfer of power and influence.

Is the "norm" going forward going to be the absolute ignoring of elections? Is the goal for opposing losing parties to find a way to remove their opponents by whatever means the letter of the laws allows?

No coup plotter in history ever said they just wanted to control everything and get rid of their competitors. It’s always for the good of the country. Always.

I can almost remember during the post 911 days/during the Patriot Act debate when the left was concerned about a surveillance/MIC state endangering democracy.
