The inability or unwillingness of liberals, Democrats, and some leftists to recognize the dire long-term consequences of the FBI seizing vast new autonomous powers for itself (such as the power to instigate a plot to overthrow the president) is so incredibly myopic, it's unreal.

As a practical matter, it's almost impossible to protect ourselves from people in power who don't act in good faith. My question is, given credible evidence that a president is compromised, what course of action would you propose for the FBI?

The correct course of action would be impeachment, so the purported evidence can be aired publicly, and the rest of the country can evaluate it -- rather than a small cabal of bureaucrats evaluating it in secret.

Agreed, which would mean every president, at least in my lifetime, should've been impeached and charged with war crimes.

Essentially the FBI is the secret police of the U$. They should be abolished.

are there any such autonomous powers that have not already been seized by fbi or cia post 9/11? is there any area left? what did they do new or more this time? or should they now refrain themselves? should they not investigate someone since he is the potus?

Pffft. Now we are all looking forward to when the next President calls for arresting the NRA and confiscating all guns. You know, because of the real National Emergency. Good times ahead.

The power of a unitary executive was an issue going all the way back to GWB. Media forgot about it once Obama was elected. It's cute to see Democrats suddenly caring about executive power.

Because you’ve been hyperventilating on this since the get go, it’s hard to take seriously. If anything, the last two years have persuaded me that the gov’t probably had nothing to do with JFK after all, which I had never believed until Trump.

They are all making their move on the reigns of power in the post 2016 apocalyptic times. It seems like all the institutions we once believed in have all been corrupted. Ultimate power corrupts ultimately needs to be changed a bit to any power corrupts

It’s not instigating a plot to overthrow the government if you’re saying, here’s what the Constitution requires us to do, do we have what the Constitution requires & then doing nothing b/c you d/n meet the requirements. They d/n make it up-it’s IN the Cons. & they d/n do anything

It would be amazing if you wrote a piece about far liberals have come from the days of the Church Committee in the 70s back when they questioned authority and viewed unaccountable intelligence agencies with suspicion.

Being a liberal means believing in government power. There is no real contradiction there, these are not libertarians who at least theoretically should feel that govt force is immoral.
