The top law enforcement officials in the country conspired to overthrow the elected president, thereby effectively overriding the expressed will of voters. If that happened in Uganda or somewhere, US media would be declaring a thwarted coup attempt and breakdown of society

Nope. Article 25 of the Constitution allows for this and it's legal. A coup would not be legal and is not protected by the Constitution.

You're dreaming if you think the 25th Amendment (not "Article 25") has one straightforward legal interpretation, and using it in that manner would not be furiously denounced as illegal and challenged immediately. It would be declared a coup

Not if it's legal. That's at the heart of the definition of a coup d'etat. If the Ugandan constitution allowed for it, then it wouldn't fit that definition and so US media wouldn't call it a coup.

It's legal according to who... you? It could easily be ruled illegal.

Dude, and I do mean "dude", are you really actually saying the entire concept of "rule of law" is pointless?

“rule of law” is a social construct, that means that it’s actual meaning changes upon who you ask. Why do you think most laws are worded vaguely or in a way that confuses the general public. Like many parts of the US constitution, the Venezuelan one is up to interpretation

Exactly! In that case - and in either country - it would be referred to as a coup.

According to constitution. The 25th doesn't define what it means for a President to be unfit. It means whatever the VP and a majority of principal officers decides it is. Congress must also approve the action with a 2/3rds vote, within 21 days.

The idea that it is a coup or even unfair is ridiculous. It's a process with proscribed timeline and checks & balances. It's a legal procedure therefore not a coup. A coup is always illegal.

Obviously the contrarian is a fucktard paid by MSNBC. It was an attempted coup, nothing short. The second in US History. If they were making a non medical assessment on Mental Health it wouldn't hold up. It suggests something more evil. Violence? Reagan? Shame on Dems & FBI.

So it’s illegal to even discuss something unless you know for sure the courts would rule in your favor? Take a deep breath.

What is illegal, or even a coup, in talking about what to do about this lawless President? They took no action. Stop giving Trump cover.

The 25th is certainly not legal without warranting circumstances which do not include demeanor or political beliefs. It would be ruled an abuse of power = coup I suppose.
