My working theory: the more candidates who run, the better it is for Bernie. Put another way: the greater the number of candidates, the smaller the plurality he'll need to win Iowa / NH, which is the focus at the moment. He clearly has the firmest "base"https://twitter.com/NateSilver538/status/1095692927836319744 …

Hi, folks. We're likely to end up with something like *20* Democratic candidates for president. Here's my argument that this is a big deal. I think people are neglecting the possibility of 🌀ChAoS🌀. https://53eig.ht/2GGuiVq

So he should welcome the entrance of 20+ candidates -- even candidates who appear to be somewhat similar to him ideologically. Fact is, Bernie's personal appeal is unique and the core base of support he cultivated in 2016 isn't going anywhere

Don't underestimate the percentage of his core support that left him after bowing down to the Clintons. This number is not insignificant and largely unknown.

But for some, the initial infatuation will have worn off. He lacks depth and is decidedly wimpy on foreign policy. Plus, it's difficult to unsee those images of him and Hillary.

Warren was similar but her full throated endorsement of Hillary had to be offsetting for the fans of the Bernie/Warren ideology. Tulsi is just being treated like a leper by the rest of the party. I think she's the most "likable" of those, but they've already made her toxic.

I'm quite impressed with #Tulsi2020 and her clear minded stance on non-intervention. Anti-militarism could seriously reduce America's emissions, as well. I won't be sending money to Paul Manafort's business partner Tad Devine again. Jury's still out if I'll support Bernie 2020.

Zero chance the left nominates a white male. The identity religion I mean politics they adhere to means they must nominate in this order: PoC woman PoC man "other" woman ie pocahontas "other" man ie Bernie white woman Beto white man Kamala/Booker is my guess for 2020 ticket

This is basically how Trump won in ‘16. One populist vs. a dozen or so we’ll-funded centrists. The centrists cancel each other out. Trump and Bernie have strong core bases. It would be fascinating to see them go head-to-head in ‘20.

Biden could undermine Bernie a bit. Biden comes in with a bit of a strong voter base and gravitas that could knock out some of the other big pro-establishment figures who lose their lane- Gillibrand, Klobuchar could drop out quick after Iowa if Biden comes in and is frontrunner

Bernie couldn't win against 1 candidate who was the worst ever fielded by the Democratic Party. 70% of "Bernie's Base" is simply anti-Clinton. But nevermind, he'll surely have a better chance against 20. I'll bet three Benjamins that Bernie never cracks 20%.
