Apologizing seriously weakens Omar, and won't diminish the attacks against her. If anything, her antagonists are now emboldened. Bad move.

Should've emulated Trump in this instance. "Never apologize." It works.

Although, Trump does sometimes apologize. Chris Christie recounts in his new book that Trump apologized after he accused him during a rally of knowing about "Bridge-gate." But the apology was private. Omar apologized under duress, which is the worst circumstance to do so.

In any case, this is only postponing the inevitable. At some point, an American politician will simply refuse to bow down to AIPAC or the evangelical lobby vis a vis Israel. The resulting conflict may well tear the Democrats apart.

Democratic Party is the party of “am sorry “. Warren already apologize twice since she announced; Bernie has also been quite apologetic lately.

Napoleon's dictum: 'never apologise, never explain.' Unfortunately, or fortunately, it seems to work. In any case, it's better politics.

They can't afford to let the power of the lobby become part of the discourse. Much psychological investment in powerless victimhood is at stake.

It does at times, but even Trump has been forced to apologize or retract a few times (Birther stuff, or the "both sides" stuff and a couple blatant lies)

I know in her place not only would I not apologies, but I would attack retlentlessly the terrible ethics of my accusers - show they are the problem, and a serious one at that.

Of course it works. Apologizing makes you look weak. Besides, a solicited apology is disingenuous anyway. After all, if the person is truly sorry, he doesn't have to be goaded into apologizing. So when people demand apologies, the object is to humiliate the person, nothing more.
