It’s actually baffling to me the amount of people I thought were atleast reasonable on here who still cling to this “criticizing Israel is anti-semitic” narrative.

You see it with Venezuela, too. Rather eye-opening.

The preemptive strike on Jodi Rudoren (Feb. 17, 2012) As an anonymous interviewee told journalist Michael Massing, "the pressure from these groups is relentless. Editors would just as soon not touch them." https://wikileaks.org/clinton-emails/Clinton_Email_October_Release/C05789931.pdf …

I think that many liberals can't do so since Israel's ties to the Democratic Party would be quite damaging if they acknowledged Israel's true influence over the party and greater American politics...

Just like today, responses in 2007 were almost universally couched in terms of “antisemitism” — https://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/the-lobby-strikes-back/ …pic.twitter.com/hX4MQ6Mh7q

I don't understand the taboo. ALL lobbying is aimed at influencing politicians. Every last nickel of it. Loads of foreign countries do it. So why is it heresy to acknowledge that Israel does it?

Seems obvious that US politicians are reluctant to criticize Israel for any reason. I think it was Howard Dean who got in trouble for suggesting we act as an "honest broker" between Israelis & Palestinians - pretty benign IMO - before reaffirming the "special relationship."

All that is true. But did yu see the records of how many times Eric Schmidt & cohort visited the White House between 2008-2016? Google is a VASTLY bigger & more dangerous lobby to American democracy “dying in darkness.”

Why does
@mtracey feel the need to undermine Jewish voices when it comes to anti-Semitism? When the row over UK Labour anti-Semitism surfaced, he did everything to deny it and dismiss it a delusional farce. Redux US editionhttps://twitter.com/mtracey/status/1029157821718429697 … -

If you live in a one variable world, then she's correct. For everyone else there's the fact that a plurality of Americans love Israel and we have $Billions invested there through our multinationals. BTW, on the topic of bent politicians, who funds Ilhan.
