I should've added that his father, John Dingell Sr., served for 22 years before him. So we are approaching a full century of exclusive-Dingell control of a particular swath of political territory in Michigan.

Michael. Unfortunately, this sort of nepotism in Congress has become so routine that it hardly raises an eyebrow. Out here in So Cal we have Duncan Hunter Jr. (still held his seat after embarrassing revelations) inherited from daddy (Duncan Hunter Sr.). One of numerous examples.

Wes. Fortunately there are voters - they cast votes for candidates, not families. The first rule in politics is that the voter is always right. Nobody is forced to vote for any primary or general election candidate - they do it willingly.
