The first half of the quote is Gabbard expressing regret the US wasn’t involved in the bombing, that’s neither anti war nor opposed to US involvement (though maybe her position has changed on that, which I suppose depends on your trust in her)

I don't need to inform you guys that AQ & ISIS were in Syria. As far as I know I haven't seen anyone disqualify a Democratic politician for supporting the equally murderous US bombings of Mosul and Raqqa.

The point is that the quote isn't anti war and is, in fact, advocating for US involvement in Syria. It's not an example of her showing courage in opposing that war.

Whatever problematic things she has said in the past doesn’t change the fact that the corporate media is dunking on her, smearing her and portraying her as a crank bc they won’t tolerate her message, which in the above video is antiwar. That’s the issue here imo

If that’s the point, then that’s a different discussion. But referring to her position on this conflict as inherently and consistently anti war just isn’t true, especially when using a quote in which she bemoans a lack of US bombs raining down on Syria.

I didn’t say she was consistently anti-war. I said she had the courage to acknowledge, and oppose, the Syria proxy war. Just as no one would rule out Bernie or Warren for supporting US bombings of Mosul & Raqqa, I’m not going to rule out Gabbard for supporting Russian bombings.

As usual, homing in on semantics to deliberately deflect from the obvious, which is that Gabbard is being unfairly smeared for taking a courageous stand on Syria, Korea Yemen, and Venezuela. The point is to make an example of her so no one dares follow her lead.

I made no such insinuation. But f i am to ascribe motives, I’d assume you were doubling down on past critiques of Gabbard that are increasingly outdated and hard to defend.

Her connection to the Hindu nationalist fascist movement in India remains, which is my main criticism. Her Islamophobia, past homophobic comments, and her place in the Science of Identity Foundation remain issues as well.

She doesn't have "connections" to the Hindu nationalist fascist movement in India, at least in the way your Sludge piece disingenuously suggested. You egregiously mischaracterized the Hindu American Foundation. So did The Intercept, but at least that piece was retracted
