Football has been proven to permanently damage brains, so the "fears" are legitimate. Children should be prohibited from playing, not out of "fear" but because incurring repeated concussive and sub-concussive blows will permanently damage their brainshttps://twitter.com/DavidAFrench/status/1092156370688856067 …

I strongly disagree with Trump's timidity about his son playing football. My son played, and it helped mold him into the young man that he is. Fear-based parenting can breed timid, fearful kids. Some thoughts, from a couple years ago: https://www.nationalreview.com/2016/02/super-bowl-football-virtue-victims-injury-courage/ …

Macho-men like to pretend that the only way to instill "character" is to subject kids to a violent brain-damaging game. If you're willing to make that tradeoff with your own children, you are sick. You're dooming them to cognitive/mental problems for the rest of their lives.

I don’t think football should be banned for kids, but it’s definitely not a safe sport like most sports & the NFL needs to stop hiding & lying about concussions in the league

Brain damage to children from repeated sports related concussion is not news. My parents knew this in the 1960s and did not allow us to play full tackle football in grade school for that reason.

What an ignorant comment. The research is there. Decades worth. Not just football. Soccer. Hockey. Look up Daniel Carcillo on YouTube. Former NHL. He’s trying to heal his CTE. This has nothing to do with fear based parenting. If you so choose for your child to suffer, have at it

I know two people whose 7 year olds had concussions from playing football. 7 years old. How many more will they get if they keep playing. Crazy.

Actually the new artificial turf is not the same as the old astro turf. The old astro turf had seams that were dangerous. A lot safer today.
