About negotiations to withdraw troops from Afghanistan, Brennan asks: "Can you trust the Taliban?" then brings up 9/11 and warns about a "resurgence" of Al Qaeda. Her skepticism is reserved for efforts to withdraw, not for the wisdom of the deployments themselves.

~two decades of this sh1t and I’m of the opinion that, fundamentally, the press is pro-war and pro-interventionism.

ISIS as a brand will be used in perpetuity: "the post-9/11 playbook has been to push indefinite military deployments in forever wars based on the mere *possibility* that a terror threat persists *somewhere* out there."
-
USA cannot invade and permanently occupy every nation where extremists exist. How Pompeo parsed the reason to withdraw: "U.S. mission was to push out Islamic State (the Caliphate--country)>" or DNI "ISIS has lost "99.5%+" [of territory] "... a couple of weeks, it will be 100%."

Maybe she was just drawing attention to the fact that his hand picked security advisors are against the withdrawal! As are all of his “generals”.

Both are true. His point was the journalists had an obvious bias in one particular policy preference.

Just curious - what's the legal basis for US troops being in Syria? Government hasn't invite them, the UN has never approved that? Oh yeah - Americans invoke law violations only to blame Russians. Freaking hipocrats

Obama/Clinton invaded that sovereign country, violating int'l rule #1. Besides, we need the money to protect our own sovereignty by building the wall, err, steel fence, electrified & with barbed wire. Let's see them climb that.

Premise: ISIS has been defeated. Conclusion: the US should leave Syria. New information: ISIS has not been defeated Logical followup question: should the US reconsider leaving Syria because evidence appears to contradict the underlying premise for the withdrawal?

I'd rather journalists ask outright abrasive questions than to ask pseudo-objective questions designed to alienate opposing views by manipulating the Overton Window.

Journalists questions to Trump have to do with the opposite of whatever Trump wants to do. Has nothing to do with Hawkishness - Unless you mean Hawkish on Trump.
