Democrats wouldn't have to worry about Howard Schultz "splitting the vote" if they put forward a sufficiently appealing candidate. Fear-mongering about Third Parties (a longstanding tradition in US politics) serves to insulate the two-party establishments from accountability

Would change the equation some, but probably not entirely eliminate fear-mongering about Third Parties.

Maybe the real angst is that Schultz's positions call attention to the paucity of genuinely appealing ideas from the DNC? How different are they from, say, Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer? The vitriol directed against him is not unlike the hatred that many harbor for @SenSanders

That’s right. No real progressive would ever vote for Schultz. He’s only going to spit the vote if they nominate somebody like Harris or Biden

And two important steps to making that candidate appealing are: 1. Honest talk about class warfare. 2. Don't talk about "Russia, Russia, Russia."

I'd never tell anybody not to run. Let people vote and see who comes out on top. Just keep the process fair is all I ask, but I know with DNC there is zero guarantee

Yes. The best person with the best plan for the times always wins. No matter how many candidates there are. Caveat: The times are always changing. What was needed in one election isn't necessarily going to work in another!

Ironically enough, that's exactly why Democrats have to fear someone splitting the vote.
