In 2016, Trump significantly underperformed Romney in wealthy GOP areas, such as Northern Virginia and Orange County, CA. You could imagine some of these people latching onto a Schultz candidacy. Again: it's not a huge % of the electorate, but enough to complicate the overall map

Its also aiding in the current effort to burnish the progressive image of Kamala Harris.

As a libertarian I found his debt focus refreshing, then you keep listening and realize he has big govt solutions for everything regardless of where he positions himself.

Schultz can attract adult democrats and disaffected Republicians. Wall Street should be applauding his defense of American business and entrepreneurs. I expect Bloomberg to endorse him.

I can see Schultz headlining RNC in 2024 against President Liz Warren.

If he wants to be competitive would have to choose a respected Republican VP, otherwise will be viewed as a Trojan horse.

Paradoxically, the more votes that Schultz takes from Dems, the better chance the Dem nom has to win. It would mean a 'far left(!)' candidate was the nominee, bringing more sit-at-home voters to the polls. Includes Sanders and maybe Gabbard at this point.

totally depends on the Dem candidate, he has no rationale to run against Biden, and Harris will also pivot hard to the center in the general

Depends on whether or not someone “respectable” like Larry Hogan comes in the race. Twitter is a funhouse mirror, Trump could easily lose the suburb Repubs.

You are right. I’m a former Republican and I’m listening very carefully to Schultz. I’d like to actually vote for a presidential candidate this time around. If I’m faced with similar choices as last time, I’ll leave that box empty again.

Reality is NTrumpers have been trying to attack Democrats on the left and push the DNC to Clinton style moderate republicanism. They hope his run will push Democrats to purge the likes of Sanders,Warren,AOC hence they promote him with a wink and a nod.

I'm old enough to remember when Ross Perot thought he would take more votes from Democrats ... I think the Democrat won

But this idea that Dems have moved “too far left” is laughable. The pendulum has gone SO far the other way - towards Capital/corporations. These people act like b/c some politicians aren’t afraid to *say* “Medicare for All” suddenly we’re Sweden. LOL
-
You might find it laughable, but larges segments of wealthy Democrats (on whom the party establishment has relied for generations) do not. So there's an opening there, potentially.
