Michael Tracey Retweeted Dr. Jill Stein 🌻

You don’t have to support Schultz (hardly anyone does, it seems) to recognize the oppressive logic behind the calls for him to not run. Shouting “don’t split the vote!” presupposes that any particular candidate is entitled to votes. Sorry, not how it workshttps://twitter.com/drjillstein/status/1090397844371066880 …

I don't support @HowardSchultz. What I do support is voters' right to have a full say in our democracy. Don't like a system where someone can “split the vote”? Support the movement for Ranked Choice Voting, which lets you vote FOR what you want instead of AGAINST what you fear.

If you know that at best, you will peel votes from candidate most similar to you on the political spectrum, your entire campaign is effectively serving the other party. Until we have Ranked Choice, no-one should run 3rd party for POTUS & any who do should be shouted at,@DrJillStein

You're not factoring in the Vlad Putin funded (via Trump) pro-Schultz media that will flood through Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets, the same way the pro-Bernie liberals didn't like Hillary but couldn't quite explain why. Propaganda is a powerful tool.

I shouted “Fuck off you barista billionaire.” Is that oppressive? Gosh, I hope I didn’t rattle the poor guy. FFS you want to run for office, you’re going to take some roundhouses to the jaw. If you can’t handle it you’re not fit for office.

I say: The more the merrier. The people should have dozens of candidates to sift through, at this point. This includes candidates who can never win. They might just bring one important issue to light the rest have overlooked. Everyone wins.

Are you saying people shouldn’t have strong opinions? As far as I know, nobody is actually proposing preventing Schultz from running. You should be more concerned about @amazon shutting down reviews of his book.

I have a feeling that this #AtlanticCouncil approved candidate is being pushed before the media as some sort of test (not necessarily with any real intent to get him into WH). Not sure what it is—an opportunity push “only 2 party, don’t split the vote“ messaging? #HowardSchultz

Schultz won’t hardly register in the vote count. He would take more from “moderate” Repubs than Dems imo. Don’t know why the Dems are so up in arms. They should be more concerned w/ their own platform and candidate.

The two party equilibrium is dictated by the federal electoral system. Trying to work outside of that is moronic and a waste of political power

"Don't split the vote" is entirely reasonable when the Electoral College is the method by which the winner of the election is determined. Provide me one statement from anyone who has exactlly said what you're presupposing, or else you know where you can stick that assumption

There is no logic. It’s purely a power play. The question is - why is it coming from the media? If something good comes out of Trump era it may be that media has dropped any pretext of being anything but political advocates
