I don't remember "expressing thanks" to anyone. I gave analysis of why they rebuked the president. But trolls often insist on media accuracy while not adhering to it themselves. I forgive you. Namaste.

You were clearly putting a positive, grateful spin on the fact that the Intel Chiefs had rebuked Trump, so "expressing thanks" is an accurate characterization, figuratively speaking. If it were me proffering analysis, I'd be less inclined toward gratitude.

Jeez man, you don't have to mischaracterize my points to criticize me, just criticize my points. THANKS for admitting I never said "thanks." cc:

I didn't quote you as literally saying "thanks," I characterized your spin as tantamount to an expression of gratitude. Which is accurate.

"Josh Rogin of WashPost is on CNN expressing thanks." Come on brother, own your mistake since you always tell others to own theirs. Anyway, it doesn't matter, if you really wanted to know what I think you would have asked, not speculated incorrectly.

Anyway, dude, here's the tape! Your followers can judge whether you added YOUR bias to MY analysis to attack me (for no reason because I kind of like you man).https://twitter.com/EarlyStart/status/1090569765213560832 …

That's not the entire clip, but sure, people can watch for themselves. My inclination is to be skeptical of the motives of Intel Chiefs, which is why the positive spin put on their actions struck me as tantamount to "expressing gratitude." But thanks for liking me! Namaste.

You are so caught up in smearing me and defending your smear, it obscures your otherwise intellectually interesting arguments. If you believe Trump more than the IC on ISIS and North Korea, go for it! I disagree with you, and that's OK. 1/2

But me pointing out that (based on reporting, evidence, data) the IC is correct that ISIS is not defeated and Little Kim will likely not going to give up his nukes doesn't mean I'm spinning for them. There are many things I have criticized the IC for, including torture. 2/3

Take me at my word I am engaged in an honest effort to seek information and do informed analysis (and yes opinion), that I'm not motivated by a desire to promote any bureaucracy (certainly not the IC) & then we can have a real debate that's worthy of our reader's time & attention

I believe that. I think my initial characterization was accurate in a figurative sense (since I disagree with the overall thrust of your analytical view point, and wasn't directly quoting you as "expressing thanks") but I'll try to be more precise in future.

OK, I'm happy to call this exchange constructive and I appreciate your thoughtful engagement. I take your point that we can't know the IC's true motivations and in fact they may be varied. I'll definitely think about that more when I talk about this next time.

Agree re: this being a constructive exchange -- an extreme rarity on Twitter. We deserve some kind of award.
