I honestly can't believe this made it into The Intercept. "Names that are of Hindu origin"? Would it be seen as remotely acceptable to scrutinize political donors on this basis in any other context? https://theintercept.com/2019/01/05/tulsi-gabbard-2020-hindu-nationalist-modi/ …pic.twitter.com/6vOPXRiYLd

Also, who is this "expert" and why was he or she granted anonymity?

Tulsi Gabbard is Hindu but not Indian AT ALL. Hinduism is not traditionally, a particularly evangelical religion. What's the story here? Also, could this be used to attack her from the left on "cultural appropriation" grounds?

Yeah, I don’t know about @theintercept at times. I’ve got a fair amount of respect for Greenwald, Poitras, and Scahill, but there’s something fishy about a journal owned by Pierre Omidyar.

Important to know. Michael, you should know that some groups/individuals associate any overt Hindu identification as extremist or political. Furthermore, what is labeled as extremist is often an opinion, not fact.

I’m married to an Indian. The absurdity of insinuating Hindu’s are anything but peaceful is pretty stunning really. I honestly can’t believe the brazenness to do such a thing. It’s pretty god damn racist to think we wouldn’t notice.
