US interference is obviously a factor, but not the sole factor to blame for some of the repressive tactics. Maduro's government also bears blame irrespective of US actions.

The way I feel about it is that America should not be anointing the opposition leader as president, should instead follow
@RepRoKhanna's advice on this one and allow the people of Venezuela to handle their own government. If they want Maduro out, that's their decision, not ours.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I believe you when you say that is your opposition. I think your “for the most part” is exceedingly generous and doesn’t hold up.

And I'm still waiting for the names of these leftists who "side" with Maduro, or even en explanation of what that means. I "side" with Maduro against this coup attempt. Explain, please.

No. This is wrong Michael. Anti-war leftists have resisted all US interventions-not for cutesy little reasons/or sympathy for Maduro(gee, I guess we are dupes of the Maduro regime..:sigh:) but on principle. These interventions are wrong /1

against international law. The fear of a boondoggle isn't what drives opposition it's the thousands that lay dead(Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Serbia) in the aftermath of coups and war and the history of the CIA/Pentagon installing rightwing governments on these countries.

The US only ever regime-changes helpless targets. The
#Democrats always seem to support this type of aggression. Dem foreign policy: You're only allowed to disagree with US if you have nukes. They would never dream of acknowledging a Chinese opposition leader as president.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

You're being very charitable with the word "boondoggle." It is quite simply illegal to seek to change the government of another country outside the framework of the UN.
-
The incessant "meddling" by the US in everybody's business is bad enough, but recognizing whomever you want as head of state with the implied threat of military force to back it up is another step entirely. "Boondoggle" doesn't begin to describe it.

Some of the protesters in Venezuela are more like the
#YellowVests. Are we gonna support a coup in France now too?

Since all the rest of our boondoggles have worked out so well... Syria, Libya, Somalia, etc The two rules to life: 1: Mind your own business 2: Stay out of mine. The U.S. needs to STFO of other countries unless attacked.
