Undoubtedly there are many Venezuelan-Americans who cheer Trump backing a coup. And many of them have legitimate grievances. But there were also Iraqis, Libyans, Syrians, etc. who backed US regime change efforts. That alone does not justify the US helping to overthrow governments

Michael ... sometimes international help is required. This isn’t just a US thing. Allies agree. This isn’t the Iraq war. This isn’t the Middle East. Find some nuance.

When was the last time US interference led to a better outcome?

Cuba hasn't fallen, as it has been useful to use as a propaganda tool when required.

The Venezuelans in Miami pushing for war are welcome to pick up a gun and go fight there

Cubans in Cuba don't feel as their American counterparts do. Some, who've been religiously converted by evangelical Christians do.

In situations like this as Americans we all have to be careful of giving our opinions on what's best for Venezuela. Most of us don't speak the language and forget about having lived there, most of us have never even visited Venezuela.

There will be no war in Venezuela. Anyone who doesn’t support Venezuela’s neighbors helping Venezuela boot a usurper must have ulterior motives. From the wealthiest country in South America to the poorest in one generation

It seems reasonable to expect the newcomers to leave their old country feuds behind and become exclusively American as a condition of their citizenship, and not try to hijack our government to settle feuds in their origin countries.

Do you see why importing people from all over the world is not a good idea? We are drawn into fights that we have no business being in because of hyphenated Americans

Are there ever circumstances, short of a regime openly declaring war on the United States, in which the US is morally justified in seeking regime change? Is it ever practical to do so? Not a gotcha, just genuinely interested in your position
