Cuban emigres in South Florida have been lobbying for the US to overthrow that government for 60 years! And the US has sometimes acted on those wishes, with disastrous results. It's the same old story.

There is always a contingent of exiles and expats involved in these regime change operations. Like the ones on tape urging Kerry to bomb the hell out of Syria and the infamous Chalabi. That went well.

There are terms for these kinds of people...they are called collaborators and traitors. They are willing to sell out their people and resources in the hope of attaining personal power and self enrichment from the new puppet government.

Nothing justifies US attempts to overthrow foreign governments. Liberals cry 'the Russians are coming!' and cheer CIA wars in Syria, Libya and coups in Ukraine, Venezuala.

By that logic there are many French people wanting to overthrow Macron as well.

And they're welcome to, as long as it is by their will and not by the interests of others

What about the Venezuelan-Venezuelans? Between eating their pets and getting new leadership, I wonder how they swing.

They are divided. Many support Maduro. Many oppose Maduro but also oppose a US supported coup. Many oppose Maduro and support a coup.

As in virtually all such conflicts this is a battle between the elitists who want to regain power and the poor, many of whom still remember what the elitists did with that power prior to Chavez. Propaganda depends on people forgetting (or never learning) history.

Here's how you know if it's good or bad. Is the reports of corruption valid?

In situations like this, I don't know what to think. I don't know enough about it and don't want to pick a side. There are many compelling arguments coming from both angles. I'll keep watching for now.

@cookiedrool What we know from history, of course, is that we are bombarded with massive amounts of "regime change" propaganda from powerful interests. My rule of thumb is this: If the CIA/deep state/bankers/corporate media want it - I'm against it. - 1 more reply
