Maduro's government has engaged in real repression, with a real humanitarian toll, and there's no sense denying that. The question of whether the US has license to attempt to oust him from power is an entirely separate issue.

The evidence for escalating abuses is overwhelming. Only weird, intransigent leftists seem to deny this. Still: no justification for a US-facilitated coup. The national legislature has acted to recoup executive authority according to their constitution. Nothing wrong with us recognizing the new lawful government.

Venezuelans elected Maduro, who cares what Americans or American leadership thinks. It’s none of our business.https://twitter.com/mikeprysner/status/1088276555313213440?s=21 …

Trump & the Venezuela opposition’s argument for their undemocratic power-grab boils down to one claim: that the Presidential election was illegitimate. But it was legitimate, fair & independently monitored. There is no way to prove otherwise & only evidence to prove its validity

Sure, i'm positive they voted for him. I mean, who wouldn't vote for someone who lets his citizens starve while he lives it up. Sounds plausible.

Liberals don't regard this sort of thing(CIA/Pentagon coup) as election interference- only the Russians do that sort of thing.

Maduro is the democratically elected Presidente. The U.S is waging yet another coup for corporate interests to take over their oil resources. As usual and as they were with Chavez, the U.S. are the extremely evil force at work there, not Maduro.

The head of the CIA engaged in something called "forced rectal feedings" but yeah, let's claim moral authority over "real repression" in other countries
