Venezuela has huge problems, including a major economic crisis. But that's for Venezuelans to resolve, without interference from the hemisphere's overbearing superpower.https://twitter.com/NBCNewsWorld/status/1088126988123025409 …

To be honest they are not changing Venezuelan regime, just recognizing who they find as the legitimate leader. Maduro dissolved an entire elected parliament when he did not get his way in elections which opposition won and then created his own sham parliament.

Apparently the Venezuela constitution allows the assembly to remove the president and head of the assembly becomes acting president. Apparently that is what happened. US/Canada just recognizing it.

the economic crisis itself is a creation of foreign, imperial interests. the crisis was manufactured specifically to this end.

USA recognized ROC/Taiwan in opposition to P.R. China. USA recognized apartheid South Africa-aligned "Social Democratic Republic of Angola" to oppose the legitimate Peoples Republic of Angola. Those machinations failed. This Venezulan outrage will fail too.pic.twitter.com/gqVL19Onzk

Of course. If this was ever about anything other than oil, the superpowers would work with the Venezuelan government to help it diversify its economy and grow. But diplomacy and solidarity are dead.

But don't Venezuelans deserve the right to determine their government? Hardly seems like their votes have been fairly counted. Maduro holds power illegitimately and Guaido talks the talk about new elections. Can't be worse than the present situation.

Don’t you think there is a slight difference with vocal recognition and sending troops or any other physical interference?

In a nutshell, it’s none of our business full stop.

It does when it affects the entire region, and it is. There are MILLIONS of people fleeing Venezuela for Colombia, Brazil, Peru. At some point the pressure is going to built for the nations taking in these immigrants to the point where they have to act.

As a Venezuelan citizen with valid ID number. Any right winged neoeconomic crap would be better than the dictatorship and fraudulent President Maduro. They must determine the sovereignty because there is no sovereignty in Venezuela. Essentially it’s up for grabs

Although choosing to recognize someone else is not tantamount to determining the governing body. They can't without ousting Maduro.
