Also: presume that your initial impression of the mobbing is at least incomplete, and probably inaccurate. Raise your burden of proof for drawing any conclusions at all.

Maybe don't give out personal info and don't encourage others to punch or kill? I'm no expert But that would go a long way towards not being human garbage

Be purposefully contrarian. Even if you don't agree with that side. The only way to combat mobs is by pushing back on them and if people who don't like the social dynamic commit to playing a contrarian role, at least we can act as an obstacle to them.

“how do we engage in Twitter in a way that doesn't create potential pile-ons?” Black out the Likes and Followers counters on your screen. Resist the temptation to accept a quantitative evaluation of your thinking. Instead think of your participation as a kind of journalism.

every week (at least) there are stories that are REAL and involve serious violent crimes, mob beatings, etc. But they feature the wrong villains, so no one mobs them or talks about it. Kid being tortured on FB made news because they framed it as "n word" being used. oops

You'll note that the Trayvon Martin story blew up because the guy who lived had the name "Zimmerman." If it had been "Washington" we wouldn't have heard about it. The name got the media excited then they saw pics.
