And as much as I (mostly) like your observations, you do it as well as anyone. Welcome to the Digital Age, warts and all. Fire away...oops, I’ve no blue check mark, never mind...

The answer to this isn’t regulation. Its not “social media’s” fault that outrage occurs. It’s human nature. What do you propose exactly? Are you taking for granted this open forum where information is far more accessible versus say government controlled info throughout history?

Yup they want a quick reaction. The more the better. That’s what social media is built on, that’s its purpose; to see how people feel about things

they're not split-second judgements...nice reframing, though they come from understanding the history of how non-white people are treated in this country and resisting the entitlement of behavior by people who have already benefitted from centuries of entitlement of behavior
-
what is one's underlying morals? that might have to do a lot with the judgements being made, or the attempt to hand-wave actual behavior away by saying the people mad about the behavior are the "real" menace

Click-baiting is foundational to the "news" business model. Nothing has been more toxic to politics in the US.

Remember when you got wailed on by Maxine Waters?
-
i wonder if deciding to characterize that interaction as an "assault" was a "split-second moral judgement" you know, for a journalist, in choosing how to describe reality

And all it took was for this decade old engine to turn on white boys raised on quintuple-digit tuitions to shock the American conscience
