Many have been asking for clarification on this. It never appeared to me that the kids proactively "surrounded" the elder. But some still engaged in taunting that can be fairly said to have racial overtones. Doesn't mean they are personally, in their hearts, virulent racists.pic.twitter.com/6gd4PnQ6kI

If you live in a world where the only possible moral judgments are categorical denunciation or categorical absolution, then we obviously do not live in the same world.

Furthermore: I think making these kids overnight social media stars, which invites immediate snap-judgments on the basis of incomplete video snippets, is a really toxic dynamic. I've probably been guilty of it at times. Doxxing and threatening them is also destructive.

The “surrounding” matters because it establishes who taunted who. You got this one wrong Mr. Tracey.

Nathan walked into the middle of the kids doing a cheer. He's right, they did not surround them. Vids are edited to make it seem so. That is just wrong! And then kids mocking is also wrong. Adults should be model.

All controlled opposition. Keeping the Country divided is a non Partisan effort. That's how the CORRUPTED system remains intact. Media is the Catalyst to make sure folks remain within thier 2 Party Box, vote accordingly, which insulates the System itself from any real change.pic.twitter.com/XvMqEjUKyx

Well, sure, but then they were taunted in overtly racist tones, so at worst they were too young to know they shouldn't retaliate in kind.

The most relevant frame of analysis in this case is who in the video is there to respect the ongoing event and who is not. The MAGA rocking children or the respected Native American elder?

Got to disagree with you here, the full video shows the white kids being taunted by the black Hasidic folks, then the Native American approaches the kids. The adults are the ones to blame here if anything.

Those kids aren’t going to be reprimanded in any constructive way. They reek of white privilege. Their mommy’s will probably pat them on their back & tell them it’s OK 👌https://twitter.com/arlenparsa/status/1086987241891745793?s=21 …

Here are 2 fun facts about the #CovingtonCatholic "main student" whose ID I have learned: 1: When he was a freshman, he tried to hire an "essay writing service" to do his homework. 2: His mother is a vice president at a major American financial company that you've heard of. pic.twitter.com/HTlTQtaE1f

Your original "boys will be boys" take sounded weak so you rightly tweeted a more substantive criticism. Backpedaling as you're doing now is definitely not a good look. Unless you're trying to curry favor with the #MAGA crowd demanding an apology? 🤔 #SlipperySlope
