Not so long ago it would’ve been virtually unthinkable that one could ever read a piece like this in the NYThttps://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/19/opinion/sunday/martin-luther-king-palestine-israel.html …

Michelle Alexander is great! I am surprised NYT let her write an article for them.

pro-Israel groups made a mistake by calling for firing of Marc Lamont Hill and revoking award of Angela Davis. Now Israel and its actions are even more under scrutiny.

Decent piece, but a mistake to bring these two congresswoman into the discussion. One of them clearly doesn’t even support Israel’s right to exist.pic.twitter.com/QUhGSUROZ8

No nation, not the USA, not France and not Israel has an inalienable right to exist, not least an ethnostate.

What happened to the Israel Anti-Boycott Act? Maybe they're not pushing that anymore and people can speak more freely? I always try to find the motive as to why it's in the mainstream. Normally it has to do with money. How can opposition to Israel mean more money at this point?

Michelle Alexander was hired last year to write a regular column for the NYT. Once hired, no restrictions are placed on columnists as to what they can choose to write about.

False. NYT op-ed page has always had plenty of anti-Israel pieces, sometimes even from regular columnists.

True that NYT has had plenty of (shorter) op-ed pieces critical of various Isrseli govts and their policies. But this piece is not fairly described as "anti-Israel". Its subject is ending the unjust treatment of Palestinians, couched in MLK's appeal to the American conscience.

The article is hiding behind Dr. King and taking courage of his lagecy just to practice the 1st Amendment. Why you think the FF put it 1st 230 years ago? Israel is such a toxic topic that you can’t speak out against, just obey to obvious crimes. https://youtu.be/w_VNOk7Wv5A
