Teenage boys in large groups often tend to behave cruelly. It's no excuse -- they should be reprimanded and made to understand why what they did was wrong -- but the scene itself is really familiar. Just happens to have a political overtone in this instance.

I think "Teenage boys in large groups often tend to behave cruelly" sounds an awful like "boys will be boys." That's why people are reacting to the tweet the way they are.

Do you agree or disagree with the statement, "Teenage boys in large groups often tend to behave cruelly," and do you agree or disagree that such a dynamic could've contributed to their inexcusable behavior?

"No excuse.... but c'mon these things happen" rings in my ears like an excuse

Bullshit. A before/after the "but" analysis applies. You seem to be trying to have it both ways. A healthier take is: Racist acts are bad. Politically driven racist acts are worse. A group of boys committing politically driven racist acts is not excusable b/c they are in a group.

Yes. Because you didn't stop with 'No excuse' you went on to provide an excuse. The point is those two words don't immunize everything else you say
