We finally have a term for what Tracey is, and it’s “TulsiBro”https://twitter.com/mtracey/status/1085178216594198534 …

Obama was from a secular household and still opposed gay marriage on theological grounds until he was 50+ years old. Tulsi Gabbard was from a religiously conservative household, with a domineering activist father, and reformed her beliefs by her late 20s. Who was more expedient?

Do you have an answer to the question I posed?

Yes, I think that Obama’s regrettable adherence to the near-universal Dem party line (unconvincingly reversing his earlier endorsement of gay marriage from before entering national politics) is not the same thing as supporting conversion therapy at any point in one’s life.

Didn't say it was "the same thing." I asked who displayed a greater degree of political expediency.

One would think probably the person who didn't have to answer these questions after announcing they were running for president.

Political expediency means that someone is doing something or taking a position meant to move their career forward, right? Well, Obama didn't have to answer for his flip flop on the issue and became president. Tulsi will if she wants to get anywhere.

I think his position was actually well-scrutinized in 2008, it just didn't meaningfully jeopardize his support. And to the extent he was concerned about losing support, he sought to placate Evangelicals and such, rather than LGBT activists. Now, the dynamics are much different.

Right, "it just didn't meaningfully jeopardize his support" means it was politically expedient. "Now, the dynamics are much different." Yes, and her past is damaging what little chance she had. Not so expedient.

Exactly, that was my original point. Obama's "evolution" suggests a considerably greater degree of expediency than Tulsi's.
