Seems like Gillibrand's tack will be to portray herself as "the most anti-Trump" because she's compiled the most nominally "anti-Trump" voting record (opposed almost every cabinet nominee, etc.) but without a corresponding vision of structural change (friendly to Dem donor class)

Shulkin was also an Obama appointee and I believe the only cabinet level holdover. Plus, I imagine she worked with him closely as she's on the Armed Services committee. Not always an easy donor connection to explain everything.

I think the jockeying for progressive bonafides in the primaries will come down to who is the most “woke” AND anti gun (so basically who wants to lose OH and parts of the Midwest to Trump AGAIN). Gillibrand’s Blue Dog days in the House will hurt her there.
