Despite a pervasive myth to the contrary, Trump's performance at the NATO summit last summer had the effect of *strengthening* NATO (by securing commitments for greater funding from member-states.) Whatever stray utterances Admin officials might be leaking now doesn't change that

Also given that Jeremy Corbyn has also spoken of leaving NATO (IIRC if he ever becomes PM), I really have to question the MSM's of how fringe of an idea it really is given that resentment of NATO is not that uncommon.

Except *their* commitment to the alliance was never in doubt, only ours. The U.S. is the lynchpin.

As far as I understand, NATO is based on an adversarial role against Russia/former-USSR. So what happens to the multi-trillion $ nuclear industry if we are at PEACE with Russia? God forbid nuclear contracts are cancelled & the US + Russia agree at the UN about Israel

The problem with this tweet is NATO doesn't have a funding problem. It has a confidence problem.

Maybe they will start an EU military and the US can get out of Europe.

Well said..... liking Mr. Trump and respecting the United States of America are two very different things and Trump has proven he does not care if people like him. Being well liked as a leader often means nothing.

Do the Germans really buy the idea that Russia is a threat to them? As Trump suggested, that’s inconsistent with them depending on Russia for gas.

And Trump's flogging of Hillary's emails and the Trump Tower meeting had the effect of ultimately *strengthening* the DNC 's email protocols. Checkmate, globalists!

And if Trump had actually pulled the US out of NATO, I suppose you'd be excusing it by saying, "look, Trump helped the increase funding, he's doing them a favor so they can stand on their own", right? Holy fuck is there no end to your sycophantry?

The bigger myth is the one Europe can't defend itself from Russian predation when the EU has roughly ten times the economic power as Russia. It's time America stopped risking blood and treasure to protect Europeans so they can wallow in their immoral and decadent welfare state.
