Not a stretch to say: the FBI criminally investigating Trump on the basis of the "national security threat" he allegedly poses, with the "threat" being his perceived policy preferences re: Russia, could constitute literal criminalization of deviation from foreign policy consensus

For clarification: the post-Comey investigation is described as "counter-intelligence" in nature, but there's no reason to believe that's meaningfully distinct from "criminal." If the FBI uncovers criminality, it will pursue prosecution. That's its core organizational mandate.

you have to admit, the FBI definitely crossed a line and had a political agenda. think that is pretty clear to anyone with a brain, which is why

1- FBI/CIA spied on DJT Campaign & extended it while POTUS . 2- FBI & DOJ did damage control post-exposition by introducing Mueller & constant MSM leaks to give an air of legitimacy to their criminal over reach . Could do same re Obama-Iran & will do same w next POTUS . Oligarchy

Given that we correctly understood the implications of Obama politicizing the IRS/DOJ/FBI, we really should be the last to be called buffoons.

This is not news to those who have been students of para politics since the birth of the national security state in '47.

Did they not need DoJ approval to proceed with this investigation? If so, then it wasn't purely FBI agents going on a fishing expedition, there was high level oversight and agreement to proceed. (Correct me if I am wrong, I am an Aussie, so a little unsure of the process)

I think the NYT story said they did NOT seek DOJ approval for the Trump investigation (though they presumably had approval for the earlier counter-intel investigations into Russian interference).

At least someone is talking about it. I'm no fan of Trump or the right, but I'm thankful that people like Andrew McCarthy aren't so blinkered by their Cold War opinions that they can't see what's happened.

The FBI was a big part of spying on the Trump campaign. This is NOT Okay...
