Spoiler alert: That’s more or less O’Rourke’s opinion too. The piece is a hot mess, but it’s pretty clear he takes issue specifically with the police union. The firefighters union - quoted in the piece - loves him.

If we properly taxed the ultra wealthy, enacted campaign finance reform and had comprehensive social programs in place like Medicare For All and free college tuition, public sector unions would have no reason to leverage against one another.
