    Michael Tracey Retweeted Bernie Sanders

Apologize for what? Serious question. What did he, Bernie, personally do that must be apologized for? Getting locked into this perpetual “apology cycle” seems ripe for an inevitable backfiringhttps://twitter.com/berniesanders/status/1083425779407572992 …

    Michael Tracey added,

To the women on my 2016 campaign who were harassed or mistreated, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for speaking out. I apologize. We can't just talk about ending sexism and discrimination. It must be a reality in our daily lives. That was clearly not the case in 2016. pic.twitter.com/eJtCAGjHZu

I do hope it doesn't backfire, but I'm okay with the statement. His 2016 campaign grew much faster & larger than expected, resulting in organizational & structural oversights. A lot of progress comes from identifying how even the best of us can do better.

I would say this is good leadership. If you are in charge you should make sure the values you want to champion start from the top. He took responsibility for what happened under his leadership, which is good leadership.

Even though Bernie did nothing wrong and doesn’t have to apologize for himself, he is taking responsibility and apologizing on behalf of his staffer who did wrong. Really, it’s an appropriate, sincere, caring, presidential response. #Bernie2020

I think apology is necessary since that happened during his campaign. But it is infuriating to see some centrist hacks to keep framing Bernie as a misogynist to this day

Bernie showed weakness in 2016 when he let 2 teenage girls steal his mic on stage. This is another show.

His response then & “I was busy” recently ...was not good. It relegated a serious issue among staffers as less important. the left alienates people if you can’t admit this is the right move. Why be indignant about something he isn’t?

        1. It’s for the #Centrist consumption who will never accept and then use against him every chance they get. 2. It’s a backhanded way to somehow get him to silence his supporters.

The apology will either be accepted or not based on the political necessity of different factions. We left individual justice to die back when we grafted a bunch of other words onto the poor thing.
