Which institutions are “melting down”?

Trump appointed people to head the EPA & CFPB whose stated goals were to destroy those institutions.

If you mean particular executive branch departments or entities, then specify that. “Institutions” generally refers more broadly to things like the judiciary, the intelligence services, etc. That’s why I asked for clarification.

As long as we can get our semantics pedantically correct...

Not just semantics. Centrists and hawks have put forward an entire new rhetoric around "institutions under threat," and this rhetoric contains a host of dubious political assumptions that need to be questioned.

Never trust birds when it comes to policy. On a more serious note, it was a tweet. Most people seemed to know what she was talking about except those who want to change the subject away from the point.

Yes it was a tweet, but her tweets are very powerful (maybe second only to Trump) which is why asking clarifying questions about their contents is perfectly legitimate. I've been generally supportive of AOC, but the defensiveness among some of her fans is a bit much.

Just for the record, I'm not a fan of hers because I barely know anything about her (I'm not from anywhere near her area). But the lengths people go to challenge her compared to almost anyone else in Congress right now is insane. Especially since she hasn't even started yet.

For your own knowledge then, the amount of tweets I've sent critical of AOC (if you can even call this critical) is utterly minuscule compared to the tweets I've sent critical of other Congress members. Like: .001%

Good job. I still don't see the point of picking on the one word instead of the point of the tweet, but I'm not a reporter.

That didn't help me understand but that's okay. We'll both survive this, I'm sure.
