If the Syria withdrawal signals a broader move away from the policy of maximalist confrontation with Iran, the neocons are going to enter full-on, five-alarm-fire panic mode. (Recall, earlier this year Trump said he'd meet Rouhani "without preconditions")

That’s not happening while Bolton’s in the WH.

Maybe not, but you wouldn't have thought a Syria withdrawal (in direct contradiction of Bolton's public statements) would've been either. If he had any personal integrity he'd resign, but he won't.

Expect it anyway. Bolton reportedly was furious at the news that Trump was withdrawing troops from Syria and Afghanistan. If Trump continues, if he draws down the rest of the Afghanistan troops and those in Iraq, the neocons will go beserk.

This news cycle won't be complete until someone in the MSM implies that everyone that doesn't want never ending wars in the middle east is a bigot.

haphazardly giving Turkey carte blanche is one hell of a way to raise the hackles of Iran / increase Iranian presence - which Trump & admin are obsessed with.

A Christmas card: photoshopping Trump standing aboard the warship heading toward Iran with a “Mission Accomplished” sign and the twitter commentariat on the shore with their own sign “Peace At Last!”

It’s more of a wishful thinking, given the administration’s incoherence and other policies.

recall that this is irrelevant as he canceled the deal and therefore made it neccessary to meet. I can give credit for troop removal, but canceling JCPOA was a horrendous move

Donald Trump insisted on pulling the U.S. out of the multilateral treaty with Iran so that he could impose sanctions and possibly pursue regime change in Iran. Is that not correct?
